As Managing Director of Leighton Contractors, Craig Laslett leads a diverse company of over 13,000 employees delivering hundreds of projects across a broad range of sectors and wide geographical areas.

Craig is the leading example of the opportunities for people within Leighton Contractors, having started with the company as a site engineer in 1983. A civil engineer, Craig has worked in most sectors and regions in which the company operates, including major projects such as the Spencer Street Station in Melbourne and the Inner City Bypass in Brisbane.

Before becoming Managing Director, he led the company’s Resources Division at a time of significant growth in the company’s mining operations.

Craig is a passionate and focused leader who places a high priority on the development of the company’s people. Craig is committed to further building the success of Leighton Contractors around its core values.

Deputy Managing Director, Executive General Manager, Strategy & Strategic Businesses

With over 25 years experience at Leighton Contractors Mike is Deputy Managing Director and Executive General Manager, Strategy & Strategic Businesses (S&SB).

Focusing on strategic and operational initiatives Mike leads major project sponsorship, tender review, our Indigenous strategy, the Trusted Partner Program and the business planning process, as well as Leighton Contractors’  national businesses of Rail, Oil & Gas and Power & Industrial.

Mike began his career with Leighton Contractors in Queensland in 1988, thereafter rising through the company holding various senior project and management positions.

Mike has an Honours degree in Civil Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology and is a noted sportsman having become a world champion sailor at the age of 21 years and Australian lure fishing champion in 2006.

Chief Financial Officer

Peter Hicks is the Chief Financial Officer. He leads a portfolio of the company’s key Group Services, including Finance, Legal, Business Services, Risk and Pre-contracts, Infrastructure Investment and PPP Services.

Peter joined Leighton Contractors in 2000 and has been a member of the Executive Leadership Team since 2008. He has more than 25 years of experience developing, managing and operating infrastructure in Australia.

As Executive General Manager Investment and Facility Management, Peter led all of Leighton Contractors’ PPP bids since 2000, including the Defence HQ Joint Operations Command near Canberra, the North South Bypass Tunnel in Brisbane, the M7 Motorway in Sydney, the Aspire Schools in Queensland and the new Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Peter is Chairman and board member of Aspire Schools and the new Royal Adelaide Hospital SPV companies, and a board member of Cross City Tunnel, Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and several not for profit boards. Peter is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the Planning Institute of Australia and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Executive General Manager, Mining

Steven Keyser leads Australia’s most successful mining operations, overseeing around 3,422 people across a diverse range of challenging and often remote project sites. With a focus on ensuring sustainable growth, Steven is committed to streamlining and enhancing the capabilities of the Leighton Contractors Mining Division and strengthening its long-term relationships with clients in this key Australian business sector.

Steven joined Leighton Contractors in 2002 and brings to his position more than 26 years experience in mining operation, design, construction and maintenance across the coal, base metals, minerals, oil and gas and chemical industries. His commitment to developing people, achieving safety performance and delivering results is fundamental to ensuring the Mining Division continues to provide superior value to clients, remains innovative and delivers on future industry needs.

Steven holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Swinburne Institute of Technology Melbourne.

Peter McGrath

Executive General Manager, Telecommunications

As Executive General Manager of the Telecommunications Division, Peter leads one of the fastest growing business areas for Leighton Contractors.

With decades of telecommunications experience, Peter has a detailed understanding of the industry and strong relationships with government and private sector clients. Before joining Leighton Contractors in 2009, Peter was the CEO of Uecomm Limited where he led a restructure, change in strategy and significant increase in revenue and profits. Prior to this, Peter was the Chief Operating Officer of Connect Internet Services, one of the largest commercial and wholesale ISPs in Australia at the time.

In addition to his extensive experience in the Telecommunications sector, Peter has held significant roles in investment banking and corporate advisory services, working with UBS Warburg and later ANZ Investment Bank as their head of advisory for the IT&T sector. Peter holds an MBA (Distinction) from Melbourne Business School, Melbourne University and a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from RMIT University.

Michael Bushby

Michael Bushby

Executive General Manager, Services

Michael Bushby is the newest member of the Leighton Contractors’ Executive Leadership Team, having joined the company in March 2012 after almost three years as Chief Executive of the Roads and Traffic Authority of NSW.

Michael spent about 13 years at the RTA, overseeing road maintenance, road safety, licensing and road network management before becoming Chief Executive in February 2009. As Chief Executive, he was responsible for the State’s $5.3 billion annual roads program and leadership of 8000 employees.

Michael is now focusing his skills and experience on establishing Leighton Contractors’ Service Division as the leading provider of operations and maintenance services in Australia and New Zealand. Michael Bushby has tertiary qualifications in engineering and business, and is a former Director of Roads Australia, Austroads, ARRB Group and Transport Certification Australia.

General Manager, People & Capability

In living and supporting our value that ‘our people are the foundation of our success’, Jane’s primary and ongoing focus is employee engagement, and aligning our people and business strategies.

Jane brings to Leighton Contractors more than 15 years experience in the banking and finance, construction/infrastructure, IT and outsourcing sectors. During that time, she worked in roles with an increasingly strategic remit, leading HR teams and functions at both Group and corporate levels, and with national and Asia-Pacific scope.

Jane has a Bachelor of Business (Management) from Monash University, and holds qualifications from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM).

Ric Oldham

Ric Oldham

General Manager, Safety, Health & Environment

Ric Oldham has more than 30 years experience in the delivery of major infrastructure projects in Australia and overseas, including more than 20 years with the Leighton Group. He has specialist expertise across all project management disciplines, with a passion for safety, customer solutions and community initiatives. Ric was previously General Manager of Visionstream, part of Leighton Contractors’ Telecommunications Division and the pre-eminent design, construction and maintenance contractor for advanced telecommunications networks in Australia and New Zealand. In this role, Ric had national responsibility for the $1.2 billion project to deliver LCPL’s national fibre network.

Ric became General Manager Safety, Health and Environment in February 2012, charged with delivering on Leighton Contractors’ number one value of safety and health above all else. He has a major focus on the delivery of the Safety Essentials program, a company-wide initiative that provides clear direction for the elimination of critical risks across Leighton Contractors.
