‘Pack it in’
In 2005/06 our telecommunications sector ran a successful quit smoking campaign in association with Quit Victoria, a joint initiative of the Cancer Council of Victoria, VicHealth, the Department of Human Services and the National Heart Foundation. At the end of the program, several employees had quit, with the majority remaining ‘nicotine free’.
Healthy Mining Business
HWE have signed up with ‘Healthy Business’ whereby a range of workplace programs regarding smoking, physical activity, weight, nutrition, sun smart and alcohol, will be launched.
Sporting events
Our people frequently participate in community sports events such as Melbourne’s Around the Bay cycle, and the BRW triathlon, Sydney’s City to Surf Fun Run and the Oxfam Trailwalker.
Raising Awareness
Our employees regularly support and participate in major health related charities and events. Examples include the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea, and ‘Movember’ which focuses on men’s health issues such as Prostate Cancer and depression.
