Established by Leighton Contractors and ABN AMRO, Praeco Pty Ltd was created to deliver the new Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC) for the Australian Defence Force.
HQJOC is the first Public Private Partnership project undertaken by the Australian Government. The Praeco consortium was selected to design, construct, operate and maintain the purpose built facility for a 30 year period.
Located near Bungendore in NSW the HQJOC facility will cater for approximately 750 defence personnel, providing an integrated approach to defence operations. Construction on the $300 million project started in October 2006 and is expected to be completed by mid 2008.
Bringing together defence staff and agencies at a strategic and operational level in this way will enhance and improve the effectiveness of joint planning, the allocation of military resources and the command and control of operations.
