Nextgen Networks Pty Ltd (Nextgen), a subsidiary of Leighton Contractors Pty Limited, today announced the launch of its new ‘High Density Data Centre’ product, initially available in Melbourne.

Managing Director, Phil Sykes said “Our new ‘High Density Data Centre’ solution will raise the bar for data centre services in Australia.”

Phil Sykes goes on to say, “the technical specifications are impressive. Standard customer racks can accommodate power densities up to 24kW without requirements for special rack designs and implementation costs that are applicable in traditional data centres. Free air cooling technology will deliver very high power utilisation efficiency that translates directly into savings on customer power bills and carbon credits.”

The Nextgen product additionally incorporates intelligent service offerings that give customers the ability to remotely monitor, manage and control the power to their equipment from a portal, or iphone/ipad application. Rack power can be reset remotely for individually named sockets or in a predefined sequence. This convenience directly translates to reduced customer operating costs with fewer site visits and quicker issue resolution.

Referring to the current market dynamics, Mr Sykes said “the Australian data centre market is experiencing phenomenal growth and increasing sophistication in customer requirements and expectations. IT managers are increasingly depending on data centres as a long term extension of their corporate networks, which is reflected in their selection process of data centre operators and connectivity solutions.”

“Nextgen already operates 5 existing data centre businesses around Australia and we are proud to say that we have maintained 100 per cent uptime since their inception in 2002. This experience has played a strong part in the development of our new generation product.”

Nextgen’s High Density Data Centre solution is also being planned out for rollout in Perth and Sydney as an integral part of its National fibre network expansion program.

Mr Sykes concludes “Our observations are that customers are measuring the economic value of higher power densities in standard racks, overall facility reliability and redundancy, security and remote customer control features. Customers that have reviewed the product specification have consistently given the feedback that they are impressed with Nextgen’s High Density Data Centre solution. It has anticipated their business needs and is a genuine best of breed offer in the market.”
