As Managing Director of Leighton Contractors, Craig Laslett heads an organisation of over 10,000 employees delivering hundreds of diverse projects worth almost $10billion of work-in-hand.
During his 27 years with Leighton Contractors, Craig has worked in civil and building construction, process and mining and in most geographical regions in which the company operates. Prior to his current appointment, Craig led Leighton Contractors' Resources Division. A whole-of-mine service delivery business incorporating HWE Mining and Leighton Mining, the division is recognised as Australia’s largest mining contractor with more than 5,000 people and revenues of about $2billion a year.
As a qualified and highly experienced civil engineer, Craig is proud of his directorship of technically complex and challenging projects, such as the Spencer Street Station in Melbourne and the Inner City Bypass in Brisbane; while the enduring relationships he has forged and his successes in negotiating long term multi-billion dollar contract partnerships form the basis of many career highlights.

Michael Metcalfe
Deputy Managing Director and Executive General Manager, Construction

Mike Metcalfe oversees a diversified and growing construction business across Australia and New Zealand delivering revenue in excess of $2.5billion. While maintaining leadership in traditional road infrastructure, Mike specialises in expanding business interests into new growth markets, with our strengthening presence in rail, water, energy and mine infrastructure just some of his success stories.
During his time with Leighton Contractors, Mike has held a full range of positions from graduate engineer to project director, and General Manager, NSW/ACT Operations, Construction.
His commitment to excellence and market leadership in all aspects of the business has resulted in a strong personal reputation for client focus, specialist alliance expertise and commitment to delivering value back to the community.
Mike has an Honours degree in Civil Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology and is a noted sportsman having become a world champion sailor at the age of 21 years and Australian lure fishing champion in 2006.
Peter Pollard
Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary

Appointed to the Executive Management Team in 2005, Peter is charged with maximising the financial capability of our company while managing the smooth operations of our finance and back office support teams. His role in our transition to focus on values as a key platform for long term sustainability has been significant.
In addition, his role as Company Secretary sees him supervising the efficient administration of the organization, particularly with regard to compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Peter has held financial and administrative roles for over 23 years with large corporations in construction contracting, engineering, project management, commercial and residential property areas.
He has worked with the Leighton Group since 1994, including a posting in Asia where he was responsible for the financial performance of Hong Kong, China and the Philippines. In 2003 he returned to Sydney as Executive General Manager for Leighton Holdings Limited.
Peter is a CPA and holds both an Executive MBA (INSEAD, France) and Bachelor qualifications in Business Studies.
Steven Keyser
Executive General Manager, Resources

With a focus on ensuring sustainable growth, Steven is committed to streamlining and enhancing the capabilities provided to their clients and building on the existing strong relationships across the Leighton Contractors Resources Division.
His commitment to developing people, achieving safety performance, and delivering results is fundamental to ensuring they continue to provide superior value to clients, remain innovative and are capable of delivering on future industry needs.
Prior to his current appointment, Steven’s focus was on transforming our eastern coal operations, ensuring a high-performing culture that produced successful outcomes.
Having joined Leighton Contractors in 2002, Steven brings more than 26 years experience in mining operation, design, construction and maintenance across the coal, base metals, minerals, oil and gas and chemical industries. Steven holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical), from Swinburne Institute of Technology Melbourne.
Peter McGrath
Executive General Manager, Telecommunications

As the Executive General Manager of Leighton Contractors’ Telecommunications Division and MD of Nextgen Networks and Visionstream, Peter leads one of the fastest growing areas of the business.
His growing group is responsible for the integrity and effective operation of the nation’s third largest fibre optic network, constructs and maintains telecommunications infrastructure and provides data centre and IT service solutions to large organisations.
With decades of telecommunications experience, Peter has a detailed understanding of the industry and strong relationships with both government and clients. Prior to joining Leighton Contractors, Peter was the CEO of Uecomm Limited where he implemented a restructure and change in strategy, concentrating on the corporate and government sectors. Through these actions, Peter oversaw a significant increase in revenue and profits, resulting in Uecomm’s acquisition by Singtel Optus. Prior to this, Peter was the COO of Connect Internet Services, one of the largest commercial and wholesale ISPs in Australia at the time.
In addition to his extensive experience in the Telecommunications sector, Peter has held significant roles in investment banking and corporate advisory services working with UBS Warburg and later ANZ Investment Bank as their head of advisory for the IT&T sector. Peter holds an MBA (Distinction) from Melbourne Business School, Melbourne University and a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from RMIT University.
Peter Handel

Peter has over 30 years experience in contracting, has held a number of senior engineering and construction roles, and has a diversified background in transport and utility infrastructure as well as process and multidisciplinary projects. He joined Leighton Contractors in 2005 and has held varying roles within the NSW/ACT and NZ Construction Division, including Water Sector Manager, Civil Division Manager and General Manager.
Peter studied at Sydney University and has a degree with honours in Civil Engineering. He is currently a council member and committee chairman for the University's Electrical and Information Engineering Foundation.

Peter Hicks

, Peter Hicks is responsible for the equity investment and operations and maintenance of key Leighton Contractors infrastructure projects.
With a drive to deliver dependable, long term social and economic benefits in transport, defence, education and health sectors, Peter and his team strive to maintain active positive engagement with our clients, key stakeholders and end-users, to create an approach where both clients and community can derive maximum value from the assets created.
Peter has over 20 years experience in managing, developing and operating infrastructure in Australia. During his time at Leighton Contractors, Peter has taken a lead role in developing successful proposals for Public Private Partnerships (PPP) infrastructure projects including Aspire Schools, CLEM7, Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC), Westlink M7 as well as the acquisition of the Cross City Tunnel.
Peter joined Leighton Contractors in 2000 after a successful career managing, delivering and maintaining infrastructure for the NSW Government. He is a former Board member of the Australian Council for Infrastructure Development and a current Board member of RiverCity Motorway, Cross City Tunnel, Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and several not for profit Boards. Peter holds bachelor qualifications in Town Planning, University of New South Wales and a Master of Economics, Macquarie University.
Jane Sherlock
General Manager, People & Capability

In living and supporting our value that ‘our people are the foundation of our success’, Jane’s primary, and ongoing, focus is employee engagement and aligning our people and business strategies.
Having recently joined Leighton Contractors, Jane brings over 15 years experience in Human Resource management, having worked in the Engineering, Banking and Finance, Professional Services and Information Technology sectors. Jane’s most recent corporate role saw her head the Human Resources function at Business Group level, across Australia, NZ and the Asia Pacific for Unisys.
Jane holds diplomas from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) in Change Management studies as well as a Bachelor of Business (Management) from Monash University.
